Requests for a duplicate may be submitted in person at the Consular Office or sent by mail, by regular email at cgjohannesburg.elett@esteri.it, or by certified email (PEC) at con.johannesburg@cert.esteri.it.
Voters requesting a duplicate ballot package must declare that they are aware of the criminal penalties for double voting, as provided by Article 18, paragraph 2, of Law 459/2001, which states:
“Anyone who, during parliamentary elections or referendums, votes both by mail and at the polling station of their last registration in Italy, or votes more than once by mail, shall be punished with imprisonment from one to three years and a fine from 52 euros to 258 euros.”
After carrying out the necessary checks, this Consulate General will provide the applicants with the relevant instructions for the issuance of the duplicate. The duplicate may be sent to the voter’s residential address (if there is sufficient time for delivery) or issued in person, during the Consular Office’s opening hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
