IMPORTANT: The birth certificate must remain on file at the Consulate and therefore will not be returned;<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"aaode6\" data-start=\"454\" data-end=\"729\">Paper <strong>Apostille<\/strong> (or consular legalization from the country that issued the document, for countries not party to the 1961 Hague Convention). For South African certificates, the Apostille must be issued by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO);<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"un0pz8\" data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"928\">If the certificate is not issued by the South African Department of Home Affairs, a <strong>translation of the birth certificate into Italian<\/strong> is required \u2013 the Apostille does not need to be translated;<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"f6mao5\" data-start=\"929\" data-end=\"1008\"><strong>Photocopy of the passport or valid identification document<\/strong> of the parents;<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"l8gox1\" data-start=\"1009\" data-end=\"1137\" data-is-last-node=\"\">If available, <strong>photocopy of previous identity documents of the Italian parent<\/strong>, issued during the period of residence in Italy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Application for registration of the birth certificate (ISTANZA) duly completed and signed by both parents; Full birth certificate of the minor (unabridged birth certificate).
