The elections for the renewal and establishment of the COMITES will be held by the end of 2026.
The Committees of Italians Abroad (COMITES) are representative bodies of the Italian community in its relations with diplomatic and consular missions. They work to promote the integration of the Italian community residing in the foreign country in which they are located.
Eligible voters who meet the legal requirements for active voting rights and who have been residing in and registered with AIRE in the relevant consular district for at least 6 MONTHS (as of the date of the elections) will be able to participate in these important elections.
Voting takes place by mail; however, unlike political elections and referendums, the ballot package will be sent ONLY to voters who have expressly requested to be registered on the electoral roll for the COMITES elections by 4 November 2026.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to receive the ballot package, voters must therefore request that their relevant consulate register them on the electoral roll BY NO LATER THAN 4 NOVEMBER 2026.
Citizens may submit the registration form for the COMITES electoral roll in one of the following ways:
- By submitting it in person (please bring a valid identity document) during the Consulate’s opening hours (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Monday: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
- By sending it by regular mail, together with a photocopy of an identity document bearing the holder’s signature;
- By sending it by email to cgjohannesburg.elett@esteri.it, together with a copy of an identity document bearing the holder’s signature.
