ISSUE OF THE DUPLICATE ELECTORAL PACKAGE
From 20 November 2016 the voter whose name appears on the provisional voters’ roll of the Ministry of Interior may request, from the relevant Consular Office, a duplicate of the electoral package in the event he has not received it at his place of domicile.
As per Law no. 52 of 2015 which has amended art.12, comma 5 of Law no.459/2001, the voter is no longer required to present himself to the Consular Office for the issue of the duplicate; he may forward a request by fax or e-mail to consolare.johannesburg@esteri.it accompanied by a valid copy of an Identification document (such as passport or Identity card) even though issued by a foreign authority.
Please note the following:
1. Telephone requests cannot be taken into account.
2. Requests received by fax or e-mail will not be taken into consideration unless in accordance with the model as per example.
The voter NOT present in the provisional voters’ roll prepared by the Ministry of Interior, to whom the electoral package has NOT been posted, can be inserted in the supplementary roll drawn up by the competent Consular Office, once authorization has been received from the Municipality where the voter is registered in the A.I.R.E.
The Italian citizen not registered in the A.I.R.E. and who has not applied for the option to vote as a temporary voter, can ONLY exercise his right to vote at the polling station of the Municipality of last residence in Italy.
