The 4th edition of “Vino in Piazza – Wines of Italy”, an event showcasing Italy’s wine and gastronomic excellence.
The event will take place on 18, 19 and 20 November 2022, at Hyde Park Corner, in the Ballroom.
It is organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Johannesburg, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Pretoria, the Italian Trade Agency and the Italian-South African Chamber of Trade and Industries.
Twenty re-known Italian wineries and four local distributors will present a selection of the best Italian wines. Many of these wines are not available in South Africa yet, thus the event is a unique opportunity to taste and discover them.
At the same time, chef Lorenzo Cantoni, best chef Airo 2021, will cook some of his most famous dishes during live demonstrations followed by tastings. His demonstrations will be accompanied by the nutritionist Marina Carcea, who will provide important nutritional information on the products used and will present the benefits and peculiar characteristics of the Mediterranean diet.
Italian oenologist Matteo Marangon will also be present. He will talk about circular economy and sustainability in the wine sector, with a specific focus on the trends and initiatives that Italy, the largest wine producer in the world, has promoted in the recent years.
You can also taste various Italian dishes at 4 pop-up restaurants curated by Fumo, La Cucina di Ciro, Mastrantonio and Stelle.
