Covid-19. Extension of the national vaccination plan to the Italian Citizens residing abroad

In light of Ordinance n. 7/2021 of the Italian Commissioner for Covid-19 emergency, Italian citizens registered as resident abroad (AIRE) and temporarily present in Italy are now eligible to get the anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccine.

Starting shortly, the Italian regional health systems will update their digital platforms to allow the inclusion of citizens registered as AIRE among the beneficiaries of the National Vaccination Plan. It is not needed to register through the Embassy as registrations must be done individually. Interested citizens may therefore consult their respective regional websites for booking vaccination and checking whether they fall within the priority and expected risk criteria.

In order to book the vaccination, it will not be necessary to be in possession of the Health Card (Tessera Sanitaria) or the Tax Code (Codice Fiscale).
