CONFIRMATORY REFERENDUM

20-21 SEPTEMBER 2020

For what reason are you voting?

Referendum question “Do you approve the text of the constitutional law concerning ‘Amendments to articles 56, 57 and 59 of the Constitution regarding the reduction of the number of parliamentarians’, approved by the Parliament and published in the Italian Government Gazette, General series, n. 240 of 12 October 2019?”

By voting YES the voter expresses his/her will to APPROVE the constitutional reform voted by Parliament.

By voting NO the voter expresses his/her will NOT to APPROVE the constitutional reform voted by Parliament.

Who can vote abroad by correspondence?

– voters who reside abroad, are registered in AIRE (Register of Italians living abroad) and live in a country in which voting by
correspondence is allowed;

– voters and their cohabiting family members who are not registered in AIRE but who temporarily reside abroad for work, study or medical reasons, providing that they duly submit their Option to vote abroad by 19 August 2020.

How do you vote?

You vote by correspondence according to the procedures set forth in Law n. 459 of 27 December 2001 and the Presidential
Decree n.104 of 2 April 2003.

The ballot papers will be delivered at the beginning of September, 2020.

In view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we will not be able to make use of the South African Postal Service. Therefore, we have given mandate to the courier BEX – Business Express for the delivery and the collection of ballot papers. BEX will deliver the ballot papers to the voter’s residential address (not to his/her postal address).

Anyone who intends to cast hisher vote, may do so by returning the envelope containing the voting papers through BEX starting from the first day after the delivery’s date, by telephonically arranging with BEX the exact time and day for collection and by carefully following the instructions contained in the voting package. The collection of the voted ballot papers will be done free of charge at your residential address.

The voted ballot papers must arrive at the Consulate General of Italy in Johannesburg no later than 15 September at 16h00.

Duplicate Voting Certificates can be issued by the Consulate General of Italy in Johannesburg as from 6 September, 2020.
