SELF-CERTIFICATION

This is a statement written and signed by the interested party concerning
personal status, facts and qualities, to be presented to the Public
Administration and the providers of public services. In relations with
private persons, recourse to self-certification is at the discretion of the
latter. On 1 January 2012 new provisions relating to certificates and
affidavits were introduced, including Article 15 of Law 12 November 2011, N.
183. As of that date, certificates will be valid only in relations between
private individuals, while the Public Administration will no longer request or
accept certificates, which must always be replaced by self-certification. The
rules on self-certification apply to Italian and EU citizens, as well as to
foreign nationals residing legally in Italy and limited to information that can
be verified or certified by Italian public authorities. The affidavits
(self-certification) referred to in Articles 46 and 47 of DPR N. 445/2000
can be signed in the presence of the officer or employee, or may be submitted
or sent already signed with attached photocopy of an identity document (not
certified) of the writer.
