Italy is the sixth country in the OECD area and the fourth in the European value of the gross domestic product. The Italian production constitutes more than 13% of EU GDP.


For characteristics of the production structure, the Italian composition by sectors of economic activity is similar to that of the main European countries, with 27.7% of output in the manufacturing sector and construction and almost 70% in services. Within the latter sector, trade, transport and communications absorb a higher share of GDP than the average of European countries.

The Italian market offers countless opportunities to businesses in expansion, with almost 60 million consumers and a GDP that ranks fourth in Italy.

Thanks to its strategic location, Italy offers easy access to the 396 million consumers in other EU countries and 240 million in North Africa and the Middle East.

Italy has gained a leading position (11% of the European market share), with sales of around 65 billion euro.

In Europe, Italy is at the top spot as the country with the lowest cost settlement for the biotechnology sector, in second place for the testing of the product in research and development, chemicals and electronics.
